Myth Talks Project
This image actually comes from my class Introduction to Digital media. One of the assignment that we had for this class was to create a poster for a TV show about something that you were interested in, or would like to see on TV. Since I was a kid, I have always been interested in Greek myths and art and so this was a perfect opportunity to combine my interest in photoshop along with my interest myths. For the assignment, I thought I would create a show called Myth Talks where I would just discuss various myths and the art and architecture associated with them. I decided that I would make the logo of the show be reminiscent of greek art by including a banner of meanders with the show's title. Because I wanted the logo to be my own work, it took around and hour and a half of playing with the line tool on photoshop to make the banner look nice. The main challenges that I had with this assignment were getting myself on the vase, and making myself look like realistic. It took an hour or two of trying different filters and editing on multiple layers until I felt like my picture actually looked like an engraving on the vase. All in all, with all the different layers editing in the project, it probably took me a few days to complete the poster.
History 366 Project
This video was actually a project I made in my freshman year for my History 366 Class, "Introduction to Fascism". For this project, the goal was to write a research paper, along with a 10 minute video based on a topic related to fascism. This presentation would be shared with McFarland High School, and we would later meet with the students who watched our videos and discuss their ideas about our topic. The topic I chose was the rising threat of Neo-Fascism in Germany with the rising popularity of the AfD party. In the video, I also addressed the rise in xenophobia in correlation to the rise of the AfD party, and how the normalization of hate-speech occurs. The research that the project needed took me around a month or two and making the video presentation took a few days. Though I am well-versed with video editing now, at the time this was one of the first video presentations that I had ever made, so it is a little bit wonky. Never the less, I am proud of the historical research that went into this presentation and how it turned out. All this hard work turned out to be worth it though, as my teacher decided to feature it on the University of Wisconsin-Madison Constellation website, which is meant to uplift important projects in humanities classes.
YouTuber Burnout
Here is a more recent video project of mine. This was for COMARTS 346: Critical Internet Studies, which was a class I took in the fall of 2023. The purpose of the project was to create a video explaining YouTuber Burnout. This is a topic that I have been passionate about for awhile, especially with how new the job of a "Content Creator" is. I had to complete the video in a time crunch, so the video was made in three days. Considering this, I am very proud of the video I was able to produce. While part of the video uses stock footage, I animated a lot of the video by using keyframes with different images. I only recently began working on my video editing skills in the summer of 2023, so I am proud of the progress I have made when comparing it to my other video on my website.
